Ha Giang Loop Expedition
Overview
Experience the legendary Ha Giang Loop, widely considered one of the most spectacular roads in Southeast Asia. This 5-day expedition takes you through the towering limestone karsts of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, along the abyss of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, and into the heart of ethnic minority culture in Northern Vietnam.
We ride a mix of paved mountain passes and hidden dirt trails that take you away from the tourist crowds. Nights are spent in authentic homestays and boutique lodges, enjoying local hospitality and cuisine.
Day 1: Ha Giang to Quan Ba
Distance: 120km | Ride Time: 5-6 hours
We start the day with a safety briefing and bike check. Leaving the city, we immediately climb into the mountains, passing through the Heaven's Gate pass before descending into the valley of Tam Son.
Day 2: Quan Ba to Yen Minh
Distance: 100km | Ride Time: 4-5 hours
A day of winding roads and stunning vistas as we make our way further north.
Day 3: Yen Minh to Dong Van
Distance: 80km | Ride Time: 4 hours
We ride through the heart of the Geopark, visiting the Hmong King's Palace and the Lung Cu Flag Tower.
Day 4: Dong Van to Du Gia
Distance: 90km | Ride Time: 5 hours
The highlight of the trip: the Ma Pi Leng Pass. We then descend into the river valley for a swim.
Day 5: Du Gia to Ha Giang
Distance: 110km | Ride Time: 5 hours
We complete the loop, riding through lush forests and returning to Ha Giang City.
